Hakanoa Street Stormwater Renewal.
Complex Auckland stormwater works, including pipelines, manholes, catchpits and deep excavations in a constrained urban environment.
Let's talk about your projectThe project
Stormwater infrastructure renewal in an established Auckland street. Livic's civil delivery scope included pipelines, manholes, catchpits and the associated excavation and reinstatement interfaces.
The challenge
Underground work within a constrained urban environment, with existing services, property access, mature trees and stakeholder interfaces. Excavations and manholes reached approximately 5 metres in parts.
Livic's scope
Civil and subcontract delivery of the non-drilled construction scope. Specialist horizontal directional drilling interfaces for laterals and tree protection formed part of the wider project context.
Key works
The supplied project evidence records approximately 400 metres of stormwater main, 133 metres of catchpit leads, 11 manholes and 27 catchpits.
- Stormwater pipe installation and connection interfaces
- Manhole and catchpit construction
- Deep excavation and temporary-works interfaces
- Urban service, access and reinstatement coordination
Construction approach
Excavation, pipe and chamber installation, service interfaces and reinstatement were coordinated through a staged urban work sequence. Existing services and property access shaped the work.
Quality
Drainage handover centred on installation checks, testing and as-built evidence for the network.
Safety
Deep excavations, lifting, live services and public access required careful work planning throughout the project.
Environment
Tree-protection interfaces and trenchless lateral work formed part of the construction constraints. No environmental outcome is claimed here.
Stakeholders
Work was coordinated around service owners, street access and affected properties. CDS was the contract client and Auckland Council Healthy Waters the asset owner.
Outcome
Completed over 2025–2026, the scope included approximately 400 metres of stormwater main, 133 metres of catchpit leads, 11 manholes and 27 catchpits. Excavations reached approximately 5 metres in parts.
